As of 31st July 2025, POWERGRID operates around 1,80,849 circuit km of transmission lines with 286 substations, wheeling about 50% of total power generated in India. The company also owns and operates a 1,00,000 km telecom network with presence in ~3000 locations and 500 cities across India.
POWERGRID is looking for experienced professionals for engagement on Fixed Term Contract Basis for various projects across its regions and subsidiaries through the POWERGRID Common FTE Written Test – 2025.

Job Specification
- Upper Age Limit (All Posts): 29 years (as on 17.09.2025)
Field Engineer (Electrical) – Post ID 487
- Qualification: Full-time B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) in Electrical discipline with 55% marks.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in Design/Engineering/Construction/Testing & Commissioning in RE/DMS/ST/TL/Substations.
Field Engineer (Civil) – Post ID 488
- Qualification: Full-time B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) in Civil discipline with 55% marks.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in RE/DMS/ST/TL/Substations projects.
Field Supervisor (Electrical) – Post ID 489
- Qualification: Full-time Diploma in Electrical with 55% marks (higher qualifications not allowed).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in Construction/Testing & Commissioning in RE/DMS/ST/TL/Substations.
Field Supervisor (Civil) – Post ID 490
- Qualification: Full-time Diploma in Civil with 55% marks (higher qualifications not allowed).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in Construction/Testing & Commissioning in RE/DMS/ST/TL/Substations.
Field Supervisor (E&C) – Post ID 491
- Qualification: Full-time Diploma in Electrical/E&C/IT with 55% marks (higher qualifications not allowed).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in Telecom Systems (Design/Engineering/Construction/Testing/Commissioning/O&M).
Compensation & Benefits
For Non-RDSS Projects
- Field Engineer: ₹30,000 – 1,20,000 (initial basic ₹30,000) + DA + HRA + Perks @ 35% → CTC ~ ₹8.9 LPA
- Field Supervisor: ₹23,000 – 1,05,000 (initial basic ₹23,000) + DA + HRA + Perks @ 35% → CTC ~ ₹6.8 LPA
For RDSS Projects
- Same pay bands as above.
- Perks paid as variable pay linked to performance.
Other Benefits: EPF, Gratuity, Leave, Medical benefits, Group Insurance, Annual 3% Increment.
Relaxations & Concessions

Selection Process
- Written Test (Common FTE Written Test – 2025)
- Duration: 1 hour
- Sections: Technical Knowledge (50 Q), Aptitude (25 Q)
- No negative marking
- Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS 40%, Reserved 30%
- Interview (only for Field Engineer posts)
- Final Merit:
- Field Engineers → Based on Interview performance.
- Field Supervisors → Based on Written Test only.
